Item #000010096 The Rise of Scientific Philosophy. Hans Reichenbach.

The Rise of Scientific Philosophy

Berkeley: University of California Press, 1951. Book Club Edition. Hardcover. 8vo. [6], v-xi, [3], 3-333, [5] pp. Blue paper-covered boards quarter-bound in grey cloth with blue lettering on the spine. Slater 768. This is the book club edition issued by the Book Find Club of New York (club postcard and the original invoice for this book are laid in). The club would rent the original plates and produce their own editions which typically sold for about half the price of the trade edition (the first edition of this book was issued by UC Press at $3.75 whereas the Book Find Club was selling their edition for $1.85 plus sales tax and shipping). Needless to say, book clubs rarely publish substantive works in analytic philosophy (occasionally book clubs publish editions of books by analytic philosophers intended for a more general audience such as Russell's History of Western Philosophy, which has been published by the Book of the Month Club). A presentable copy of one of Reichenbach's best-known works. Very Good / Very Good. Item #000010096

Very Good with traces of wear to the extremities in a Very Good edge-worn dust jacket with a couple of tiny chips and darkening to the spine panel.

Price: $35.00
