Title pages printed in red and black. Smith 109. Young 253. An 1874 gift inscription in each volume with an accompanying letter dated 1875 laid in. The letter, from Charles W. Raymond, is addressed to Professor J.E. Oliver, at that time the head of Cornell's math department. Bryant's translation was first published in 1870 by Houghton, and was praised for its use of English in conveying Homer's story.
