Frankfurt: Suhrkamp Verlag (1964) [1967] [1969] [1970] [1974], 1960; 1964; 1967; 1969; 1970; 1974. First edition. Hardcover. 6 vol. 8vo. [11], 12-543, [5]; [8], 9-347, [5]; [4], 5-265, [3]; [4], 5-490, [2]; [8], 9-429, [1], [1] (page of publisher's advertisements), [1]; [4], 5-445, [3] pp. Red cloth with black lettering blocked in white on the spines; grey topstains. Text in German. With a few in-text diagrams, some in color. Edited by Rush Rhees, B.F. McGuinness, G.E.M. Anscombe, and G.H. Von Wright. With a postcard from the publisher laid in volume two. Biggs and Pichler 12-13. Lapointe 7-8. Volume six of Schriften was published several years after Oxford published Wittgenstein's Remarks on Mathematics, and this set offers its version of that work as a revised and expanded one. There were two additional volumes of Schriften issued after volume six both of which are lacking here (volume 7 is the Lectures on the Foundations of Mathematics, and volume 8 is Remarks on the Philosophy of Psychology). Given that the books were issued over the course of several decades in relatively small quantities, a complete set of first printings in collectible condition is uncommon. The volumes in our set include many of Wittgenstein's principal writings: Philosophical Investigations, Remarks on the Foundations of Mathematics, Notebooks, the Tractatus, and more. A very attractive set of the majority of Wittgenstein's corpus in its original language. Very near Fine / Near Fine. Item #000011137

A tiny ink notation on each front flyleaf, the pageblock on volume five somewhat toned; volume three's jacket has a touch of foxing to its reverse and the jacket on volume six has a tiny split to its front fold.
