High Priest

[17], 2-353, [5] pp. Quarter black cloth over yellow and grey patterned paper boards with gold lettering on the spine. Black endpapers and pastedowns. Price of $7.95 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with numerous full-page black and white photographs and drawings by Allen Atwell and Michael Green. With a newspaper clipping from December of 1968, detailing the drug charges brought against Leary and his wife and son. Leary's semi-religious, semi-cultic text organized around 16 LSD trips he completed over the span of three years. In his prefatory note he states this book is dedicated to the beginning and flourishing of the League of Spiritual Discovery. A perfect example of the culture of the '60s, and of the radical social changes taking place in the West. The jacket design perfectly reflects the psychedelic nature of the book.
