Illustrated with 50 full-page illustrations by Jules Guérin, some based on paintings done by him, others are black and white photographs. Tissue guards printed in red. Hichens describes the Acropolis, the island of Aegina, landmarks in what is now Istanbul, and views of the Croatian region of Dalmatia.
