James Aggrey was born to Ghanian royalty in the latter part of the nineteenth century. During his lifetime he earned two doctorates, became an ordained minister, worked as a professor, and advocated for interracial harmony in the United States, as well as the right of self-determination for African peoples. In 1920 and 1921 he undertook a tour of Western and Central Africa and observed the effects of colonialism on these places. He was admired by several of his contemporaries and is remembered as a hardworking and generous intellectual who advocated for the human rights of the African diaspora. Near Fine / Very Good.
