Illustrated with a frontispiece and with eleven plates (One of the plates called for is missing, but there is no evidence of its removal. It is possible that this copy was accidentally bound without it). All maps that are called for are present. Howes V-10. General David Sloane Stanley fought for the Union Army, and saw action in Kentucky and Tennesse, among other places. He later fought against several Native American tribes in the latter nineteenth-century, during the U.S. Government's campaign to displace Native peoples from their homes. Very Good+.
