Illustrated with twenty black and white photographs, attached to one another in accordion (or concertina) style. The beauty of the monastery, its gothic architecture, its spires, chambers, altar, and mosaics are sharply depicted in this small souvenir. An ink note is written on the verso of the final photograph, stating the man who once owned the souvenir album toured in August of 1908. Francis L. Palmer, the writer of the note, wrote that he visited the library, the chapter house, the rooms of the brothers, the laymen and the priests, all centered around the cloister. welcome to Prague, 'Emmaus Monastery". The monastery was greatly damaged during the Second World War, and then damaged again during the Soviet era. It was first constructed during the Middle Ages, and was the only Slavonic monastery in Emperor Charles IV's Western Empire. Very Good+. Item #000012711
