As stated on the title page, these volumes are the fourth edition, revised, corrected, and complete. The first edition was published in 1875 by D. Appleton and Company. These volumes were printed from the plates of the second edition. The final and best edition of Sherman's memoirs, published as part of the Shoulder Strap series. Volume one of the fourth edition was published in 1891, and volume two was published in 1892. Both of our copies are dated 1892 on their title pages.
