Biberman was blacklisted and jailed in 1947 for failing to acquiesce to the demands of the House of Representatives' Un-American Activities Committee. His movie, Salt of the Earth, focused on the discrimination and prejudice Mexican-American miners faced in Silver City, New Mexico. The film also examines the lives of the wives of these miners, and the ways a patriarchal society stifled them. Multiple blacklisted artists worked on the film. Biberman's book also contains lessons to be learned from McCarthyism, and he denounces the Red Scare as a scourge. Very Good+ / Very Good. Item #000012756
