Half smooth black morocco over marbled boards with the spine in five compartments, gilt lettering on the spine; top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Bound by François Le Boulenger. With eleven plates, one of which is a folding map. Skulls, a graveyard, and pottery are depicted on the plates. The plates are labeled 21 - 30, as the other plates were published in a different ethnography in the same series. Inscribed by the author to a woman named Sophie, the author writes [in French] that his publication could not have happened without her assistance. With a typed transcription of the dedication and contemporary manuscript notes laid in. A detailed ethnography of the peoples who inhabited the land around the Orinoco river, and the Raudal Rapids.
