The Campaign Text Book of the Democratic Party of the United States, for the Presidential Election of 1888

The Campaign Text Book of the Democratic Party of the United States, for the Presidential Election of 1888

New York: Brentanos [1888], 1888. First edition. Hardcover. 8vo. [3], iv-v, [4], 4-656, [2] pp. Black publisher's cloth with a purple morocco label with gilt lettering on the spine. With a slip bound in, a note from the treasurer of the Democratic Party stating the price of this book (one dollar), is to be paid by anyone requesting a copy, but a bulk discount will be granted for orders of ten or more copies. The Campaign book is an advertisement for Grover Cleveland and his virtues. He ran for re-election in 1888 only to lose to Benjamin Harrison in the electoral college (though Cleveland did win the popular vote). Cleveland would go on to win the 1892 election and serve a second term as President of the United States. This volume offers charts and data intended to help the Democratic Party win the 1888 presidential election: it is a collection of strategic talking points for the party. Very Good. Item #000012768

A small dampspot on the bottom textblock, the rear hinge neatly repaired, a tiny abrasion on the title page (not obscuring the text).
