[3], iv, [1], 2-380, [2] pp. Half purple calf over marbled boards, spine in six compartments with gilt lettering and decorations; all edges marbled. Marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with numerous plates and in-text decorations (several of the plates are in color). Six issues of the monthly magazine are bound in here. The plates depict the United States Capitol building, images from the short stories in the magazine, and sailboats. The publisher, Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, was founded in 1698 and is active to this day, according to the SPCK website. The society was founded in the United Kingdom, this is one of their many publications intended to promote the tenets of Christianity and the faith itself. Very Good. Item #000012789

Light rubbing to the boards' edges, the rear hinge very subtly split, the leaves have some foxing but are still attractive.
