Marbled endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of De Staël. The author was a significant French writer, active during the French Revolution and a vocal critic of Napoleon. Her travels to Germany took place while she was exiled from Paris (by Napoleon). Her book was intended to criticize the French political structure. Very Good. Item #000012799
