The Oxford DNB characterizes this book as his "chief publication", published posthumously in 1829. Robert Southey, the famous Quaker activist, wrote a positive review of Dymond's book. Dymond's treatise here explores different ethical theories and criticizes utilitarianism. In the Quaker tradition, Dymond's book is vehemently anti-war.
