Bellot was a French naval man who participated in multiple expeditions to recover the Franklin expedition and to assist those who were searching for remains of Franklin and his party. Bellot ultimately drowned on a voyage to assist his fellow explorers in 1853, and his writings were published posthumously. The Bellot Strait is named after him. A very attractive volume on the history of polar exploration, beautifully bound. Very Good. Item #000013630
