[3], 4-376, [8] (pages of publisher's advertisements) pp. Brown publisher's cloth with decorations in blind on the boards, gold lettering and a gold decoration on the spine. Yellow endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a frontispiece and with an illustrated title page, also with in-text designs (all in black and white). Edgar and Vail 27; Gimbel D25. According to Edgar and Vail this was likely the first American edition, reprinted from Harper's Magazine. They list it as the first American edition in two places in their bibliography.
