The first American edition of this poem was published in 1878 by James R. Osgood in Boston. The publisher became Houghton Osgood and Company later in 1878, this is a slightly later printing of the 1878 edition and thus an early American printing of this beloved poem. This copy with five contemporary newspaper clippings of verse pasted to the blanks of a few leaves.
