Slater 460. A collection of essays from an early American psychologist, famous for developing the first standard psychology textbook to be used in U.S. schools. James was also a philosopher, dabbling in radical empiricism and pragmatism. He was also the brother of the famous author, Henry James. James earned his degree in medicine from Harvard Medical School, and spent his career lecturing there and at other institutions on the East Coast. William James firmly believed that our psychological experiences could be tied to our physiology. He argued that mental states were connected to physical ones, and worked fervently to make psychology a hard science. Very Good. Item #000016479
