McLure writes below the inscription, "a reminder of our visit to Wounded Knee". Pence and McLure published a paper together on early childhood education in 1970. Brown's magnum opus, a history of Indigenous North Americans told from their perspective. As stated on the front flap, here Brown examines the decimation of Native American civilization in the western portion of the United States at the hands of white settlers "battle by battle, massacre by massacre, broken treaty by broken treaty" Near Fine / Very Good or better.
