Bound in green cloth stamped in black and gold over beveled-edge boards, front board with a lozenge decoration inlaid and done in purple cloth with gold, green, and red lettering, gold lettering and gold and black decorations on the spine; all edges gilt. Illustrated with twenty-five chromolithograph plates from drawings by A.F. Lydon. Vignette engraved title page, with a chromolithograph illustrating the page. Each lithograph presents a stunning illustration of the different lakes covered in the book. Contemporary owner's name dated 1886 with reference to the book as a wedding gift on the front pastedown. A lovely overview of several English lakes and the local history concerning each lake. Very Good. Item #00008129
A Very Good book with moderate foxing throughout, a small repair to the crown of the spine, and two very faint dampstains on the rear pastedown.
