Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1880. First American edition. Hardcover. 4to. [15], 15-103, [3] pp. Brown cloth with gold lettering on the front board and spine, decorations in blue and brown on the front board; all edges gilt. Illustrated by a frontispiece, eight full-page illustrations, and several in-text illustrations. Contributing illustrators include F.T. Merrill, F. Hopkinson Smith, Mary Hallock Foote, and many others. The poem was first published in 1832, and published with a correction in 1853. An 1881 gift inscription on the first white leaf from one woman to another, reading: "To Lidie, In remembrance of all loving kindness to one who, hopes ever to retain a place in your memory, and, although, we separate now, for a little while, trusts that, side by side, may we stand, at the one little door, when all's done.
