Illustrated by a frontispiece, an engraved title page, and several wood-engraved plates and in-text illustrations. A children's book in a series focused on the sights (or "spectacles") and historical merits of different cities across the world. Each landmark (in this case Cambridge, the Boston Court House, a mental hospital in Boston, among others) is accompanied by a story with a lesson in nineteenth-century "morality", meant to educate children on societal mores.
