Two plates also illustrate ships that were used in the naval battles. Each chapter covers a different aspect of the war's history, including a chapter on women's contributions to the war effort. The contributors discuss America's colonization of the Philippines, the annexation of Hawaii, military action around Texas, the battles around Cuba, and several naval battles fought during this war.
