Originally issued in 30 parts to a subscriber's list, these volumes are the first trade edition of Bartlett and Willis' collaboration on American natural landmarks. Bartlett traveled to the United States in the late 1830's and drew several scenes of American city life and natural landscapes. Landmarks all across the North Eastern Seaboard are sketched, as far south as Virginia, and as far north as Niagara Falls. A beautiful set of skilled lithography, capturing some of the most beautiful spots in the United States as they were in the middle of the nineteenth century. Very Good. Item #00009762

A Very Good set with moderate wear and rounding to the corners, overall light rubbing to the extremities; minor foxing to the plates, leaves show an occasional small dampspot to the margins, a few plates affected.
